Yes. I finally decided to stop cooking separate meals for Shannon.
From now on, she eats what we eat. Last week she had dim sum, this week she had Clay pot chicken rice, yesterday, she ate mee hoon and nuggets at Sam’s wedding, during the wedding dinner she ate whatever we fed her and tonight she will eat whatever Daddy cooks.
I usually get guilty if I don’t cook separate meals for her. I think that I’m not giving her proper nutrients. She’s a fussy eater. She doesn’t take vegetables and rice. She only eats meat.
So on Sundays, I’ll get up early to bake her chicken or pan fry her fish before we go to church. Her food is often wasted because she hardly finishes them. I think she is fed up of bland food because I put too little salt in her food. She wants to eat adult food. After talking to many parents, I got to know that most of their toddlers are taking adult food at 1 ½ years old. So I decided to do the same; only that Shannon is now 2.
And you know what, she eats better. She can tell you “I want more Mee Hoon”, “I want eat nugget”, “drink water”, and when she is full, she says “I full”. She doesn’t want others to feed her and she feeds herself. I’m really impressed because she doesn’t eat messily. It’s not that her food doesn’t fall of the plate, but she makes minimal mess.
She still doesn’t take vegetables; but I’m not stressing myself and her by forcing vegetables into her mouth. I give yoghurt and Yakult instead. And she enjoys them.
Oh, and Mimi said she had her first Roti Canai sometime last week. Mimi gave her half and she asked for another half.

I know outside food, fast food and takeaways are not healthy for toddlers, but it’s not like we feed her with these food everyday. Most of the time she eats home cook food. So on weekends, I think it’s ok to have her try the saltier and sweeter food.
